A blood drive is taking place on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 May at the Laminoir, in Decazeville, from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The month of May with its public holidays and bridges is always high risk in terms of blood donations. However, every day, in France, 10,000 blood donations are necessary for vital emergency situations such as haemorrhages, blood diseases such as leukemia and cancers which require regular transfusions, genetic diseases affecting red blood cells such as hemophilia, but also for the manufacture of drugs derived from blood.

Each blood donation takes only 45 minutes (including 10 for collection) and saves three lives. No product can in fact replace the blood of voluntary donors, in order to meet the needs of patients every day.

The Association of Voluntary Blood Donors of Decazeville and its region therefore relies on the mobilization of regular blood donors, but also that of new donors, including young people from the age of 18.

On this altruistic, generous and citizen gesture depends the continuity of blood transfusion and the healing of the sick.
