Exposing a person to a high outside temperature for a prolonged period, without a period of sufficient coolness to allow the body to recover, is likely to cause serious complications, especially in fragile people. After the drama of the 2003 heat wave, a national heat wave plan was put in place. Since 2004, the mayor has had to set up a register of elderly and disabled people living at home, having no close entourage and who could be in difficulty in the event of exceptional risks (heat wave, health crisis, etc.). Anyone concerned can register with the Community Center for Social Action (CCAS) 2 rue de l’Abattoir. It will then be contacted as a priority in the event of a Level 2 heat wave alert – orange vigilance, heat wave alert triggered by the prefecture, and will benefit from the necessary assistance and all the useful advice. The effectiveness of this prevention system is based on the mobilization of everyone, family, neighbours, professionals, associations.
