The EHPAD Saint-Joseph received a visit on Monday from the President of the Department Christophe Ramond, who discovered a modern establishment, equipped with a new place to live.

The establishment managed by the Galibert-Ferret association is located rue Meyer in Mazamet. It has just been modernized and equipped with a new place to live. The EHPAD Saint-Joseph benefited from the so-called “Hostalet” operation, with the creation of the Hostalet unit.

A very old wing of the building was demolished and completely rebuilt. It now includes 29 spacious and functional individual rooms. The large bathrooms are perfectly adapted to the possible problems of autonomy of the people welcomed. The furniture is new and the paintings in soft colors help to make the premises very welcoming.
This unit also includes a very large living room with lounge area and large outdoor terrace overlooking the establishment’s beautiful shaded park.

This new unit will open July 1. Work began in 2022. After the transfer of residents to this new unit which has just been completed, the old wing they currently occupy will then be rehabilitated.

€955,000 invested for a better living environment

Therefore, €955,000 has been invested to improve the living conditions of seniors. The Department financed this work to the tune of €500,000. President Christophe Ramond recalled that “by 2030 the share of over 65s will exceed that of under 15s: our society will change its face! Aging is a strong stage in life, a moment rich in learning and wisdom and it is because this moment is so important that I want to offer the best living conditions to our elders in our Tarn nursing homes. So I decided to launch a rehabilitation plan for 12 million euros over 5 years. »

It is in this context that President Ramond came to visit the Saint-Joseph nursing home in Mazamet, which illustrates this desire “to offer our seniors more open nursing homes”, specifies Maxime Laffaille, social affairs project manager at the Department .
