A whole territory is mobilized to welcome young doctors who come here to do their internship.
From Castelnaudary to Carcassonne and Limoux, it is the whole territory of GHT, a hospital group in the western Aude region which is mobilizing to welcome medical interns.
An idea that emanated from Lauragais where, for ten years, elected officials, hand in hand with liberal and hospital health professionals have built a health project together.
Several were born from this reflection and in particular a public health center which will be inaugurated soon, another private one, the arrival of an ophthalmologist, a hospital project on the right track. The private doctors who take their time to be internship supervisors for young interns also take part in this dynamic. To welcome the latter, the wish of the president of the community of communes Castelnaudary Lauragais audois, Philippe Greffier, was to organize himself on a territory on a larger scale than the CCCLA and to have a reflection on all the west of the department. He brought together the actors with the educational manager, Dr Piponnier, to better understand the expectations of future doctors. These are thus welcomed in two waves, one in October, the other in May.
A dynamic territory for future doctors
“The idea is to show that we don’t do everything with us but that it’s a whole territory that is mobilized to receive them well, to make them live their internship with us in the best way and thus, make them want to come back. The agglomeration of Carcassonne receives them in the fall, the Audois Lauragais in the spring. This is to show the young interns that everything is done to make their life easier during this time of their internship from their accommodation to their leisure activities.
It was at the Château des Cheminières, in the heart of the 4th Foreign Regiment, made available by Colonel Hamann, that the reception took place. In a strong site in terms of commitment, the opportunity for elected officials, Philippe Greffier, Patrick Maugard, mayor or even Bruno Giacomel, vice-president in charge of health in the Carcassonne conurbation to boast of all the charm of our territory. Young doctors were thus offered the Acti-city card, which is aimed at young people up to 30 years of age. The goal was to make them discover all the activities and cultural events of this part of the Aude. “Our rural territories are often unknown. It’s an opportunity to show them that we are not necessarily alone there, that we have institutions made available to facilitate the installation and that even the relationship with the patient is different. from that in the big cities”, points out Ph. Registrar. A single telephone number has also been set up to answer all the personal and professional questions of these young doctors and thus facilitate their installation, a system that we wish to open up to medical and paramedical specialties.
