There was a certain impatience this Wednesday, May 23 at the accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) Saint-Jacques de L’Isle-Jourdain. Indeed, the residents were visited by Nuts, Flocon, Mistinguette, Ruby, Nola…, the animals of the association La Vie est belle, represented by Sabine Cavagné, animal mediation worker. The latter actually offers entertainment or therapeutic sessions within several types of early childhood, medico-social structures, and works in partnership with multidisciplinary teams (psychologist, child psychiatrist, psychomotrician, facilitator, etc.). No less than 8 guinea pigs, 4 rabbits and a little dog intervened on colored carpets, to the delight of the residents. Everyone was happy to be able to take care of the animals, feed them and brush them with the help of Sabine Cavagné, who, due to her human qualities, answered everyone’s questions with professionalism and kindness.

Taking care of the animal, brushing it, petting it and feeding it are all actions that help maintain and work on the cognitive and motor skills of residents. The animal does not pass judgement, it allows the person to regain confidence in themselves and in others by reinforcing the feeling of usefulness.
