The National Academy of Medicine has just issued a favorable opinion on the request of the thermal establishment with a view to obtaining the therapeutic orientation “Rheumatology-HR”.
This opinion confirms the results recorded after six months of studies (by analogy and clinical) in which 62 patients participated compared to a control population (61 having successfully completed the thermal treatment). Victims of osteoarthritis of the knee, the subjects of the study all presented at the end of the cure a significant improvement in pain, disability, quality of life (somatic score) and a reduction in drug consumption. . “The comparison […] with data from the Thermarthrosis study showed a significant difference in favor of spa clients to achieve clinically relevant improvement, emphasizes the Academy national medicine. The interventional study carried out, in accordance with the 2020 criteria of the Academy, allows the verification of the quality of care in terms of implementation, health benefit, safety for patients and staff.

We are now awaiting the prefectural decree which will allow us to offer rheumatology spa treatments. This approval will offer a new therapeutic indication to the curists of Castéra-Verduzan, and to increase the attendance of these medical cures. I would like to underline the commitment of the mayor of the town in this file, with whom we are working in close collaboration to maintain the activity of the Thermes. work is historic, since the last approval obtained by this center dates back to 2003.”

For the mayor, the medical orientation of the thermal baths of Castéra-Verduzan should precisely allow the municipality to win new customers while offering them quality services. “The idea is to receive people in an environment that will remain a family resort where we will pamper them. The goal is not to have an influx of spa guests, we just have to achieve profitability while by creating something different from what we know today”, explains Claude Nef, convinced of the structuring aspect of the project for the life of his commune. “This will come to consolidate the jobs that we already have. It is an important project”, he concludes.
