About fifty staff members of the Gers specialized hospital center invaded the meeting of the establishment’s supervisory board to warn of the lack of staff.
A new episode of discontent is expressed within the specialized hospital center of Gers (CHS), an establishment which takes care of patients suffering from mental disorders. Nearly fifty employees decided to “invade”, – to invite each other would be more appropriate – the meeting of the establishment’s supervisory board. First of the claims of the personnel, the lack of manpower which would be felt in several services.
“We denounce the poor working conditions everywhere in France, in Toulouse as in Bordeaux, Metz or Auch as a result of national policy. We train fewer professionals, health care workers, doctors and nurses, to reduce health expenditure. With the consequences that we know, ”explains Fabrice Lamarque, CGT union representative in the specialized hospital center of Gers.
The employees gradually gathered in front of the doors of the establishment. A dozen, then two, then finally 50 of them were ready to go upstairs to share their grievances with the members of the supervisory board. “The management remains deaf to our demands. She is perfectly aware of what we are about to say. But it is with the members of the council, who do not have all the elements in hand, that we are addressing ourselves,” adds Fabrice Lamarque.
“We are working at just-in-time due to a lack of staff. We are not sure of being able to complete the schedule for August, which is a source of stress and difficulty in family and marital life. Discontent has continued to grow in recent months, ”says Régis Botmel, nursing assistant at the establishment.
” It’s simple. For us, the structure lacks 8 doctors and 20 caregivers, nurses, caregivers and psychologists, ”explains the union delegate.
Punctual recruitment
Lack of certain staff within the CHS therefore, which the director of the establishment Thierry Laplanche does not refute. “We are faced with a double difficulty, that of recruiting nurses and psychiatrists. In the public hospitals of the department, there is a lack of a hundred nurses, there is a lack of 1000 psychiatrists at the national level. We are no exception to the rule”, insists the director.
“We can always do better, and we find solutions from time to time. We have a few recruitments of nurses in sight, we have found 2 psychiatrists, one full-time one part-time until the end of the year, and two additional ones who will arrive at the start of the school year. Unfortunately, that never really meets all the needs,” lamented Thierry Laplanche on leaving the supervisory board.
