Tuesday, June 13, a departmental meeting of the Regional Occupational Health Plan (PRST) tour was held in Saint-Paul-de-Jarrat focused on prevention and occupational health. Virginia Negro,
regional manager of the PRST within the regional directorates of the economy, employment, labor and Occitanie solidarity, described the plan put in place by the PRST as “pragmatic and operational”, highlighting the 16 actions undertaken on the concrete database.
In Ariège, despite a diversified economy, the question of working conditions arises to attract more talent. Sectors such as health, personal services, hotels, agriculture, industry and construction suffer from a degraded image due to their poor working conditions. The PRST Tour highlights five major areas on which it is still necessary to work in order to improve the reputation of these professions: serious and fatal work accidents, in particular among those under 24; chemical risk prevention; the fight against professional disintegration and burnout, particularly among young people; women’s occupational health, particularly with regard to sexual and gender-based violence; and the importance of social dialogue in prevention and occupational health.
The maxim “prevention is better than cure” is used to promote a proactive approach. The PRST Tour also recognizes the essential role of the social and economic committee (CSE) in representing employees and improving their working conditions. The establishment of health and safety and working conditions commissions remains a priority, as does the development of feedback for a better understanding of the functioning of the CSE.
