The Bon Sauveur d’Alby foundation has just obtained authorization from the regional health agency (ARS) for a future location in Castres.
The Bon Sauveur d’Alby foundation is a private institution with a public service mission in mental health in the north of the department. Since 1982, it has been recognized as being of public utility. The establishment includes three sectors of adult psychiatry and an intersector of infant-juvenile psychiatry, a state of affairs which should soon be shaken up in depth.
A change that does not come out of nowhere, but stems directly from the quantitative assessment of the care offer, unveiled in September by the regional health agency (ARS). A document that opened the door to a profound reorganization of mental health in the department.
Concretely, this anticipates additional establishments in the south of the department concerning the activity of infant-juvenile psychiatry care according to the modality of day hospitalization and family therapeutic placement. An opportunity that the foundation has decided to seize to gradually offer its services in the south of the Tarn.
Le Bon Sauveur will set up in Castres
The good news came at the very end of May, via a decision from ARS Occitanie. This validated a future location in Castres, in order to meet “the health needs of the population”. An authorization on which the agency as well as the foundation reserves any comments.
In Castres, psychiatry has so far been the responsibility of the Lavaur hospital center (CH), within the framework of a dedicated psychiatric unit within the sub-prefecture. But in recent years and the establishment of regional hospital groups (GHT), the medical dynamic has evolved in the territory. Today, the Tarn is divided into two GHTs, that of “Haute-Garonne and Tarn Ouest”, which includes the CH of Lavaur and that of “Alby-Castres”.
Thus, this location decision is part of a larger whole that should be decided in the coming weeks in the department. In practice, exchanges are still in progress concerning the establishments concerned within the framework of the preparation of the regional health project.
