As part of National Diabetes Prevention Week, the Afdo (French Association of Diabetics in Occitanie) was installed on Saturday June 10 in the village hall of Puygaillard-de-Quercy. Sport, health and well-being on the program to raise awareness of the risk factors for type 2 diabetes. The day focused on the benefits of physical activity, which reduces the risk of developing the disease and eliminates stress, aggravating factor. Also, from 10 a.m., two groups of hikers set off into the sunny countryside, a family group and another of more seasoned athletes. Others preferred archery. Nadège, the manager, guided people, with Oscar, to the various workshops. Both, volunteers and diabetics, welcomed visitors with warmth and competence. They presented the Ewé association, from Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, partner for the day; In particular, it offers wild edible plant picking walks followed by cooking workshops. Further on, a dietitian gave her advice to a couple. Other people inquired at the association’s stand. In the afternoon, it was possible to get tested. Diabetes, especially type 2, is an insidious disease that patients discover (too) late.
