Friday, June 9, the French Blood Establishment (EFS) organized a blood drive at the A.-Padié space made available by the municipality. The mobilization of volunteers from the Association for blood donation paid off because they set a record: 151 donors showed up, and after the medical interview, 131 people were able to donate. It should be noted, and this is also a good point, that about fifteen new donors have been registered. This is an exceptional and unexpected result!
As a reminder, the last collections had been described as timid with, in March 2023, 88 voluntary donors, including 4 new ones, and 78 donations, which was not so bad, but insufficient. It takes 1,000 bags of blood a day to treat and save the chronically ill, the hospitalized but also the injured. This last fundraiser literally drove the counters crazy with incredible increases: over 72% of donors, over 68% of donations made and over 275% of new donors. This last figure is particularly important because it consolidates the number of donors. Thanks to them, nearly 400 lives will be saved.
To thank them, thanks to a partnership with the city, the Amicale pour le don du sang offered each donor a bag promoting this generous and disinterested act of blood donation.
The president of the association, Bertrand Sialino, speaks for the volunteers and the EFS to warmly thank all those who came to this collection, the sports and cultural associations, the local authorities and the companies, who distributed the call for donations to their members or employees, but also to the volunteers of the association. Although few in number, they did not spare themselves before, during but also after the collection.

To end this collection in the most beautiful way, in the presence of Mayor Morgan Tellier and Mrs Pouligny, EFS manager for the Quercy basin, donors were honored for their loyalty: women who gave more than 60 times their blood and the men who donated more than 100 times were able to choose a watercolor offered by Mr. Germain and the association. Donors who gave their blood more than 25 times were also rewarded. All the distinguished were invited by the city of Nègrepelisse to share the glass of friendship.
