Thursday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m., the Town Hall of Montréjeau welcomed Gilbert Guillerm, a cyclist like no other.

It was in the presence of Maryse Dumoulin and Corinne Miat, Deputy Mayors, that Gilbert arrived in a recumbent tricycle.

Riding differently is his motto, he who opted for the tricycle in 2010, after many years of cycling and a tour of France in August 1980.

After a long break, he resumed high-intensity training in 2000 and began long-distance hiking in 2004.

Since 2010, he has chained patents with courses ranging from 200 to 1,000 kilometers, including 3 Paris-Brest-Paris and 4 diagonals of France.

The recumbent tricycle offers real comfort at the expense of speed, and Gilbert takes the time to hike alone, Paris-Mont Ventoux or with his wife, canal between two seas and Breton canals.

In 2014, the accidental death of their son Maxime changed their lives.

They donate his organs while their son had not spoken on this subject. It is to pay homage to Maxime that Gilbert decided to travel the roads to carry out this tour of France.

A solidarity challenge.

Gilbert spoke to France Adot, whose mission is to promote organ and tissue donation.

His exchanges with François Guyonvarc’h (Adot 56) and André Le Tutour (Transhepate) give a new dimension to his project which becomes a solidarity project. Wherever possible, he will meet the associations of the Greffes + collective and will carry out, with them, communication actions with the population, in relay with the press. The green ribbon, emblem of organ donation, will have its full meaning in this hike, it will be carried over more than 6,000 kilometers, during the spring months, to give everyone the desire to think about donation and decide knowingly. that we are all givers and all receivers.

for this Cycladot project, the Tour de France started on April 1, 2023 from Penestin (Morbihan) and will arrive on June 30 in the same locality. He is a smiling and affable man that we met this Thursday in Montréjeau, accompanied by these two hosts from Montréjeau.

An endearing character who makes you share his enthusiasm and his will. A cyclist like no other, who pedals with his heart.

NB: Gilbert keeps his Instagram page @Cycladot and his blog up to date https:/cycladot56.wixsite.com/website / To know everything about organ donation: [email protected]
