Moissac Occitània organizes “una parladissa” once a month. But what does that mean? This is a discussion in Occitan on a given topic. In this context, the association recently invited the author Michel Fréjabise, a native of Montesquieu.

His passion for sport, his knowledge of the English language and helping confinement led him to translate English writer Alan Sillitoe’s short story, “The loneliness of long-distance runner”, into Occitan. In Occitan, this gives “La Solitud del correire de fons”, which means in French “The Solitude of the long-distance runner”.

After reading a few excerpts to understand the journey of this young delinquent who is gifted for running and whose rehabilitation center wants to make a social example, it was the turn of the questions.

We feel in the author the knowledge of the Occitan language drawn from the family environment and in contact with the customers of the Fréjabise company, in Labastide-Saint-Pierre. The book is pleasant to read in a language that is both familiar and profound, expressing well the feelings and revolt of this young delinquent.

Michel Fréjabise also presented a more intimate little book: “Las Femnas de ma vida”, which means “The Women of my life”.

In this tribute to his grandmothers, his mother, the author also talks about his childhood loves where passion mixes with childhood memories in a very poetic way.
