Ussap took part in the 9th edition of this hike, aimed at breaking taboos on mental illnesses. The participants went through Limoux.

Travel the roads of France, negotiate bends, climb hills and then descend them… “Like in life!”. It is on this principle that the Psyclette is organized. This 1,400 kilometer hike has brought together no less than 150 psycyclists for the past 9 years. Distributed by region, these people with autistic disorders, but also their loved ones, carers and other volunteers from the National Union of Families and Friends of Sick and/or Mentally Disabled People (Unafam), ride their bikes to complete a local challenge. . The goal, “testify differently to break taboos and prejudices about mental illnesses”, notes the Health and Social Union for support and prevention (Ussap). Indeed, these diseases ranging from mild disorders to chronic and disabling disorders “affect one in four people at some point in their life”. However, these mental illnesses “widespread […] isolate those affected who are often misunderstood”.

For this 9th edition, participants must take turns on a 695 kilometer route through Occitania. It was at Ussap de Limoux that the participants took a break, after a visit to Lézignan-Corbières. The psycyclists then hit the road the next day, towards La Bastide-de-Sérou.
