Behind this sporting challenge is the desire to raise funds for cancer research, but above all to send a strong and positive signal to friends, family and colleagues who are dealing with this disease.
A fundraising campaign for Cancer Research has been organized in England and has almost achieved its goal. Its French equivalent is set up with the Gustave-Roussy Institute, which is the leading European center in the fight against cancer and is among the best in the world. Its members treat, research, teach and constantly innovate in oncology. The objective is to collect 3,000 euros.
The French HQ is in Lectoure and everything was planned for these brave athletes to arrive in the Gers town. But for technical reasons, the city of Montpellier was chosen as the final destination, to the chagrin of the initial wish.
Indeed, this collection of donations, with a personal resonance – since it is initially a tribute to an extraordinary woman who left too quickly and who took real pleasure in being with her family in Lectoure, in enjoying life in Lectour and Lectourois – obviously echoes what each of us shares with those we love and who are coping with illness.
