The adage “prevention is better than cure” took on its full meaning during the first edition of the “Health & Diabetes Prevention” show which took place on Saturday June 3, in the Athéna room in Labastidette. On the initiative of two liberal nurses from Labastidette, Cécile Duffau and Anne-Françoise Pegot, this event was led by the MSP – multi-professional health center – of the Éole (general practitioners, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, dieticians, nurses, podiatrists…) as well as by the town hall of Labastidette. This day (free entry) was intended to be a moment of exchange and conviviality. Visitors could address several topics. For example, on the theme of diabetes: getting tested and being made aware, tasting pastries with a low glycemic index, understanding and discovering new nutritional recommendations, accessing adapted physical activity workshops. They could also attend health prevention conferences (cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, DYS disorders), immerse themselves in the world of disability with a “sign language” workshop and learn about “lifesaving gestures”. “Many partners have made this sunny day a moment of exchange and conviviality” summarize the two nurses at the initiative of the show. The hundred or so visitors demonstrated the public’s interest in health. The icing on the cake (low glycemic index), for those who wanted to take their time, the on-site catering was provided by the food truck “La picada loca” and the association “Les amis d’Autan”.
On the strength of this first edition, the health professionals of the MSP de l’Eole as well as the town hall of Labastidette have already planned to renew this day: many of them will be waiting for you for the 2024 edition!
