Alongside advances in scientific and medical research in the fight against cancer, support for patients and their families is also important. This aspect was also addressed at the International Cancer Congress in Chicago.

In France, the Minister of Public Service Stanislas Guérini took up the subject to announce a plan.

“50% of workers with cancer don’t dare talk to their employer about it. Chronic diseases should no longer be a taboo in the professional environment,” explained the Minister on June 1, who “announced a support plan for chronic diseases in the public service at Cochin hospital. »

“Special medical supervision, flexible working hours, possibility of teleworking, etc.

We will strengthen communication around the support of sick agents so that they are better informed about the existing systems, ”assures the Minister. “Today, 11 million people help a loved one with a chronic illness: we are going to provide better support by making the taking of caregiver leave more flexible and by strengthening the system for donating days of leave to caregiver colleagues. I want to put in place a real culture of chronic disease prevention with targeted measures based on the most frequent pathologies and by setting up concrete operations to raise awareness, screening or preventive tests”, explained Stanislas Guérini, who received the support of the League against cancer.
