This center should open its doors on Monday morning. It will offer consultations with or without an appointment, for adults and children, and will be run by the association of retired Albigensian doctors (AMRA).

It is an “experiment” which should make it possible to reduce the current tension on the offer of care in the Albigensian. A new unscheduled medical consultation center will open on June 5 in the city center of the episcopal city.

He will offer consultations with or without an appointment, for adults or children. These general medicine consultations will be organized there by half-day from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The conventional rate will be applied as well as the full third-party payment on presentation of the vital card and the mutual insurance card. To make an appointment, a telephone number is already operational: 05.63.48.06.65.

Albigensian retired doctors

This center has a special feature: it will be run by the newly created association of retired Albigensian doctors (AMRA). A steering committee provides governance, chaired by the Regional Health Agency (ARS).

The project, supported by the Albi hospital center, is the result of a consultation led by the City and the ARS to provide “a new method of care in response to the demand for unscheduled care”. Its deployment is organized in conjunction with the CPAM and the council of the order of doctors of the Tarn.

The town hall of Albi has fitted out and made available the premises, located at 26 rue Porte Neuve, behind the courthouse. The premises previously hosted a concierge service, offered by the City but which finally closed.

Other projects under study

Many Albigensians testify to their difficulties in finding a new general practitioner for a consultation. And the retirement of 20 to 30% of doctors in the coming years will not help matters, even if Albi is not the worst-off city in the region according to the study carried out in 2022 by the Regional Union of Health Professionals (URPS) doctor from Occitania.

Several projects are under consideration to remedy this deficit. The creation of a public health center in Albi, supported by the Department, could see the light of day in the Veyrières/Rayssac district. The town hall is not necessarily in favor of this type of structure. During the last vote on the subject, all the elected representatives of the majority had abstained. On the other hand, the City has launched a call for projects to create a new private health center, which could be located in the La Mouline district.
