The Department inaugurated a new health branch this Thursday, June 8 in Marciac. This completes the offer of the CTS of Plaisance and will welcome the first patients from June 13th.
It is indeed the observation of the “lack of general practitioners which led the Departmental Council to think about a device to fight against medical desertification in the Gers. Because even if it is not one of the competences of the Department, the competence of the Department is to take care of its fellow citizens”, underlines its president Philippe Dupouy. After the first installations of the territorial health centers (CTS) of Fleurance, Vic-Fezensac and Plaisance and the Estang branch, it is therefore the turn of Marciac to be provided with doctors employed by the Department.
Accompanied by Jérôme Samalens, departmental adviser referent of the Departmental Health Center, Nathalie Barrouillet and Gérard Castet, departmental advisers of the canton Pardiac-Rivière-Basse, Philippe Dupouy went this Thursday, June 8 in the commune for a visit of the new premises of the health branch. Directly attached to the CTS of Plaisance, the antenna will welcome patients from Tuesday, June 13 at the Health Center located at 4 chemin de Ronde.
“Improving the quality of care”
Dr. Valérie Vayrac, who knows Marciac well from having worked there a few years ago, declares herself “very happy to be part of the system and to be able to promote exchanges between professionals in the area in order to improve the quality of care”. She will consult in June on Tuesdays and in July on Mondays and Thursdays. From September, a pediatrician will complete the panel of healthcare professionals at the Plaisance CTS and the Marciac branch two days a week at each site. Philippe Dupouy also underlines “a need for referring doctors for residents of nursing homes in the Plaisance-Marciac territory”.
This need could be covered by the CTS in addition to the existing offer. Jérôme Samalens, elected referent, specifies that the device which is part of the duration “provides a service to the population but also guarantees the attractiveness of the territory, thus encouraging the installation of other practitioners, and the emergence of a younger population”. Nathalie Barrouillet indicates that “the sharing of the project with health professionals was very noticeable at the presentation meeting which took place last week”. “Health requires comprehensive care. This complementarity is an essential point”, adds Julie Ribet, director of the CTS. The mayor of Marciac Jean-Louis Guilhaumon is delighted with “the quality of relations with the Department” and is “satisfied with the means implemented”.
