Out of the fifteen city general practitioners, four will leave to settle in a neighboring town by the end of 2023. The installation of general practitioners is crucial in the face of the increase in the population “what will be the actions implemented by the municipality to make up for this deficiency and recruit new practitioners?”, ask the elected representatives of the opposition.
Before the answer of the municipality a question arises why this departure? These doctors took this decision after a series of disagreements with the municipality. A few years ago they wanted to acquire a municipal building adjoining the back of their office, at the corner of rue du 19-Mars-1962 and avenue des Pyrénées. They wanted to expand their premises and welcome a new doctor. The sale price of this building, connected to the networks and four parking spaces included, by the municipality (in October 2018) does not suit them and they want a reduction in the price. The municipality takes note, asks for a commitment from the practice to maintain the activity for 30 years, a solution to which the doctors cannot subscribe, hence the proposal of the municipality to buy the medical practice and to renovate the extension (in October 2020). After several negotiation meetings, the proposal was rejected by the cabinet members.
A medical center still in the works
A final attempt is the creation of a multidisciplinary health center on communal land, tennis and handball courts, basketball, downtown, rue Encrabe Del Guindouillet, near the Marcel-Pagnol school. The conditions proposed by the town hall do not suit doctors (creation on land intended for young athletes, welcoming their patients in a prefabricated building) and sign their departure.
For its part, the city continues to work on a multidisciplinary medical center project. A meeting with the health community of the city of Plaisance will be held soon in order to associate those who wish it and the professionals who would like to settle in Plaisance. An operator and land have already been identified for this project. More generally, the Greater West of Toulouse is working on a local health plan.
