The inauguration of the user area of the Gimont hospital center took place recently. The opportunity to meet Jean-Claude Thieule, the new director.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background?

After a first part of my career as a caregiver, I was indeed a nurse-anesthetist at the University Hospital of Nice, I wanted to serve the public hospital by committing myself to the career of establishment director, and this since 2006. : first of all deputy director as HRD, I then directed the CH of Saint-Girons before being appointed to the joint management of the hospitals of Lombez, Samatan, L’Isle-Jourdain last July and Gimont. I discover the Gers and its projects with great pleasure.

How is the Gimont public hospital doing in 2023?

I discover fully committed teams, despite the years of health crisis they have just faced: humanity and a sense of community shine through in all exchanges. Furthermore, I was extremely well received. We are fortunate to work with a very invested liberal medical community, the city-hospital relationship is fully integrated into our operations; in addition, relations with the municipality are excellent and the commitment of the first city councilor Franck Villeneuve at our side is very precious. Difficulties exist of course, in particular the attractiveness of the public hospital for health professionals, but it is clear that the recruitment dynamic is present and very well organized by the HRD and the management team.

Can you tell us about this new user space?

The inauguration of the user area very clearly marks the establishment’s commitment to taking into account the voice of users in order to constantly improve the quality of care and listening to patients and their families. This space, which will allow user representatives to hold a fortnightly meeting (1er Wednesday of the month on the hospital site; 3e Wednesday of the month on the Ehpad (Editor’s note: accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people) Saint-Hippolyte), was set up as part of the users’ project which has just been drafted. The user project sets out our shared action plan to raise awareness of the role of user representatives in public hospitals and to promote the rights of people hospitalized and cared for in nursing homes. This space is available to our user representatives and I can only be delighted with their dynamism and their involvement. I also want to salute more broadly the essential involvement of volunteers alongside our healthcare teams. We believe that the involvement of users is the basis for the continuous improvement of the quality of the care provided.
