Visiting a laboratory in Ardèche this Tuesday, June 13, Emmanuel Macron will take the opportunity to present a plan to relocate drug production to France. And this in order to be less dependent on foreign countries in order to better cope with shortages.
The question of health sovereignty is coming back to the fore. On the move in Ardèche this Tuesday, June 12, on the site of the Aguettant pharmaceutical laboratory in Champagne, Emmanuel Macron must take the opportunity to announce eight projects for the relocation of drug production, according to information from Europe 1. “As we already had taught the Covid crisis, delegating to others the production of our essential pharmaceutical products is a dead end for the country”, underlines the President of the Republic in a text published on his Twitter account.

37% of French people have been faced with a shortage
Very dependent on foreign countries for the production of medicines (60 to 80% of the antibiotics consumed in France are manufactured outside our borders), and in particular on China, France would therefore like to regain control of a health sector confronted with many shortages. In pharmacies, it has not always been easy this winter to obtain paracetamol, antiepileptics, anticancer drugs. Thus, 37% of French people have recently been confronted with deficiencies in pharmacy (BVA study carried out for France Assos Santé in March 2023).
