Picked up by a taxi in the middle of the night when he had just undergone a battery of examinations in the Rangueil emergency room, a patient found himself face to face with an irascible and threatening driver who scared him of his life. . Atmosphere…

This race, Martin will remember it all his life. When he came out of the emergency room at the stroke of midnight that Saturday in June, he thought he had had the hardest time. But the worst was to come when he sat in the car of a VSL taxi to return home. A scenario worthy of an American film à la Taxi driver. “I had arrived at the Rangueil hospital at the end of the afternoon with the firefighters and the Samu whom I had alerted for severe chest pain, and a suspected heart attack, says Martin. I was taken care of immediately, everyone was nice to me and I had a series of tests, cardiac, chest X-ray, blood tests and I was finally released in the middle of the night telling me that everything was fine”. Except that the patient still in the mists of the morphine that was administered to him then realizes that he is very much alone to return home to the Saint-Michel district.

The radio plugged into football…

“There was no more public transport and no one around me or my friends was available in the middle of the weekend. The emergency reception therefore offered me a VSL taxi to bring me back”. The driver finally arrives, chats with the guard staff, before launching a “let’s go” to Martin. Meanwhile, another patient in a wheelchair, residing in Colomiers, joined the adventure. “The taxi told him that he had no right to handle him and it was me who had to get him on board,” Martin is surprised. Without knowing what will follow. “Once seated in the car, he notices that the radio tuned to RMC sports and the last day of the football league 1 is at full blast. “It was already painful, he confides, and I still felt the guy a little pissed off.”

Abandoned on the sidewalk

Martin then makes the mistake of asking if the race will first pass through his home or through Colomiers. “Do you take me for a moron?” he hears himself answer by the driver. And when Martin asks him what company he works for, everything goes into a spin. “Are you going to give me a report too?”, launches the driver. Arrived in the rue de Martin, he brakes suddenly and the manu militari fate of the vehicle. “I barely had time to wish the other passenger good luck, I thought he was going to beat me up,” breathes Martin, still weakened by the emergency room session. Abandoned on the sidewalk, he still had the presence of mind to note the taxi’s registration. “I went to file a handrail at the Rempart Saint-Etienne police station, but the policeman told me that the facts were not sufficiently characterized to file a complaint and that he could do nothing… Neither customer service de Rangueil, nor the Toulouse taxi union that he tried to join answered him to explain this strange misadventure. Martin is sure of one thing. “Already, I rarely took a taxi, but there, I won’t be caught again”…
