“We provide complex and coordinated hospital care to nearly a hundred patients throughout the department”, explains the director of the association, Caroline Baratet. 24-hour support provided by an on-call system of nurses and doctors. This is what differentiates the HAD from a liberal home care service. Its strength is also its weakness because such availability has something to slow down health professionals.

Recruitment difficulties

For the first year, home hospitalization suffered from a wave of departures of healthcare professionals and struggled to recruit. In this context, the open day on 7 June is of particular importance. Between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., the three Lot-et-Garonne branches will welcome the public and professionals (1) and answer all their questions about this particular commitment.

“You have to be passionate, really committed, you don’t do a simple job”, explains Brigitte Dezou, health manager at HAD47. The latter recounts having worked in a hospital environment for a time and observes the difference in the care of patients. “Being in a familiar environment changes everything for the patients, and there is a real closeness with the caregivers, we feel like we are a huge support. We enter into their lives,” she explains. .

It is certainly necessary to treat, but also to discuss or even reassure the patients and their families, and that takes time. “We are in the long term”, confirms the director of HAD47. However, the approach seems to be developing, attracting more and more people, who are also faced with another reality, that of bed closures in health establishments.

To benefit from the services of the HAD47, it is necessary to be in possession of a prescription issued by a doctor. A feasibility assessment is then carried out in people’s homes because the environment plays a key role in home hospitalization, hygiene in particular…
