On to the second round

IMG_9454The Rebels made their 16th straight playoff appearance last Saturday with a 2A matchup against the Knoxville Blue Bullets.
Stark County was just barely the underdog with the #5 seed to their #4 seed, but hoped to upset Knoxville on their home turf and move on to the second round for the second straight year.
Prior to the game head coach Jade Noard said the keys to a victory were to stop the Blue Bullets’ running game and not let them control the clock.
The Rebels started with the ball and good field position, and despite the windy conditions, found positive results in passing.

Rebels a #5 seed in 2A playoffs, face Knoxville

schoolAfter making their third trip west of Galesburg this year, the Rebels finished the regular season with their seventh win in a 42-14 victory over West Central.
It was however a rough start again for the Rebels. On the opening drive, Stark County threw an interception near mid-field. The West Central Fire capitalized on the mistake and drove the ball in eventually from one yard out for the first score of the night, 0-7 with 7:41 left in the first quarter.

Sloppy, but Rebels get the job done

schoolThe Stark County Rebels picked up their sixth win of the season Friday night over Ridgewood, but despite the outcome, the Rebels didn’t look as polished as they have been this season.
On the opening kickoff, Stark County fumbled the ball at the 10 yard line and turned it over to Ridgewood, leaving them in great field position.
Ridgewood, the co-op of Cambrige and AlWood school systems, took advantage of the opportunity on a 10 yard pass from Nathan Humphrey to Kevin Miller for the score. Ridgewood led 6-0 after the failed extra point attempt that was blocked.

Mercer County shuts out Rebels
