The recent Stark County Elementary Parents’ Club dinner-auction fundraiser at the Wy-Hi Community Center was a resounding success—but they had to rent tables and chairs from out of town.
Melody Anderson, proprietor of A Few of My Favorite Things in Wyoming, wants to rectify that situation. An active community booster, Melody is challenging folks to pledge $200 to buy a set of one table and eight chairs. She figures that 25 sets are needed.
Melody has already made her pledge. Help Melody achieve her goal by bringing your donation to her store as soon as possible. She notes that the Stark County Queen Pageant will be held at the Wy-Hi Center, and they could use the chairs. For more information, call Melody at 695-9966.
The Farm Bureau is selling raffle tickets for a pedal tractor. Tickets are $3 or two for $5. Proceeds go toward the Ag in the Classroom program. Call the Farm Bureau at 286-7481 for more information.
The Ag in the Classroom program teaches youngsters in kindergarten through second grade about where food comes from. County Farm Bureau manager Jake Anderson does the teaching.
In addition to providing this education to Stark County and Bradford school children, the program also hosts city kids from Charter Oak School in Peoria, for example. This week the youngsters from Peoria are coming out to visit the Doug Murray dairy farm west of Toulon to learn where milk comes from, and then to Frank Shafer’s grain farm to learn about planting of corn and soybeans.
